University College Association of Debaters (UCAD)

The University College Association of Debaters (UCAD) is one of the most active societies in University College Lahore, seeking the development of communicative and oratorical abilities of students. Each year it represents the college in numerous regional and inter-collegiate debating championships.

The UCAD has visited India several times to participate in South Asian Debating Championship. UCAD has also visited Malaysia, participating in the World Universities Debating Championship.

In these championships, University College Lahore has achieved outstanding results. In 2004, the University College Lahore team won the top 4 positions and in 2005 it earned the South Asian Championship trophy in the competition held in Bangalore in India.

University College Lahore has the honour of organising Shahjiwana International Debating Championship annually with enthusiastic participation from teams from all over South Asia. The annual event is the highlight of University College Lahore extracurricular calendar and is a mega event encompassing concerts, championship dinners and entertainment.

Since 2008, University College Lahore has the honour of conducting the first ever debating league of Pakistan, recasting the best debaters  on Pakistan circuit showcasing their oratorical brilliance.
We have an active and successful body seeking the development of communicative and oratorical abilities of students who wish to join UCAD and take part in Inter-Collegiate Debating Moots. For the last five years University College Lahore has been organizing Shahjiwana International Debates which has proved to be extremely successful. We plan to continue with this trend.
